J.M.Calleja was born in Mataro, Spain, in 1952.
Visual poet and performer in the world of the image
(photography-cinema): he realised various experimental
films (s/8mm) between 1976-81.
Active participant, coordinator and curator of many different
Experimental and Visual Poetry events and exhibitions.
He made performances in Spain, France, Italy, Mexico,
Brazil, Argentine, Uruguay...
Calleja has published in numerous poetry magazines:
Doc(k)s, Commonpress, Daina, Vile, Poesia, Plage, Arte
Postale, Cervo Volante, Views, Vltismo, Artefactos, Cultura,
Faig, P.O.Box, Zurgai, Texturas, Offerta Speciale, Terrible
Work, Farrago, Anfora Nova, Generator Press...
J.M.Calleja published many collections of visual poetry:
Llibre de les hores (1981), + que mai per als ulls (1988),
Mixtures (1993), Transfusions (1996), C'o'ctel (1999),
Alfabia (2000), Desfilada (2003), Altri (2004),
Transbord (2006), Homenajes (2007)...
and coordinated four anthologies: 17 (Spanish Experimental
Poetry) with J.A. Sarmiento (1980), Poesia Visual (1991),
Poesia Experimental-93 (1993) and V I (r) U S (Catalan
Experimental Poetry) (2005).
